Jorg and Karin began the session by telling students about their career path, how they became CEO’s, what choices they made and what studies they did. Jorg told about his experience working in Mumbai and adjusting to a different cultural environment. The great diversity in people, profiles and backgrounds present in the asset management sector became clear.
Next up were questions about the asset management sector, what it means to work as an asset manager, what moral dilemmas one has to deal with and how the future will influence the sector. Karin went into sustainable investing and why it is important for future generations. What came forward was the importance of innovation to stay relevant as an asset manager, the need for talent and the way global events directly influence the day-to-day business at an asset manager.
The students made good use of this opportunity and asked many questions, ranging from career path advice to their views on the future of asset management. We would like to thank the moderator, Frank de Rooij, who made sure that everything went smoothly and every attendee got the ask their questions. We look back on a good cooperation with FSR and Mark de Reus. We are immensely grateful that both Karin van Baardwijk and Jorg Sunderman could make the time to participate in the Collegetour and inspire the next generation of asset managers.
It was a successful event for DUFAS as well as the University and the students and we look forward to the next editions. More information about the College Tour or curious about career opportunities within the asset management sector? Take a look around this website.
